I've had clients who were a bit nervous before their shoot and that’s totally normal.
Everyone gets those butterflies before a shoot... the excitement, the nerves, the anticipation. It's just part of the process. You're stepping outside your comfort zone, doing something new and that little flutter reminds you that you’re alive.
But this babe was one of my most nervous boudoir clients...
OMG, She's Shaking
Let me tell you about one of my most memorable boudoir sessions... this babe was on a whole other level of nervousness. She was really feeling it. I mean, she was literally vibrating with nerves.
My makeup artist and I worked our magic, chatting her up, asking fun questions, cranking up her favourite tunes, and pouring champagne to ease the tension. It helped a bit, but she was really over thinking things. We kept reassuring her that she was going to look absolutely stunning in her shoot and I would guide her through every pose.
Uh Oh... It's Photoshoot Time
Her gorgeous glam definitely helped calm her nerves and the champagne didn’t hurt either. Once we started the photoshoot, I placed and guided her through each pose and with every click, she became more confident and at ease. Before we knew it, she was dancing between poses, opening up about her life, and we were having a blast!
She decided to do the white sheets AND implied nude looks. She loved the way it looked but at the beginning of the photoshoot, she wasn't sure if she could do it.
Which is why I always save these looks for the end, knowing my clients will be more comfortable by then and I can get the best photos.
My Most Nervous Boudoir Client... Turns To Ice
Fast forward to the finale. I'm ready to capture those last implied nude shots when she asks...
“Do you have ice?”
I said, “Yes, of course! Do you want it now or after these final shots?”
I was a bit puzzled, but I always want to ensure my clients feel 100% comfortable.
She replied, “I need to roll it on my nipples to make them hard. That will look better in the photos, right?”
OMG, I loved it! I couldn’t help but ask if she was the same person who was nervous during hair and makeup while I grabbed her the ice. I was seriously so impressed by how she went from shy to fierce rockstar in no time.
By the end, she was powerful, confident, and mastered every second of her boudoir photoshoot. We captured the most stunning photos, and she absolutely loved them. You never would've guessed she was that nervous when we first started.
Moral Of The Story?
Trying new things that are outside of your comfort zone can be scary, but once you dive in, it feels incredible. You conquer your fears and grow!
It's one of my all time favourite feelings in the world!
I’m just here to make sure you leave with ah-mazing photos that show you just how stunning you are.
Stay tuned for more confessions from behind the lens... because trust me, there's never a dull moment!
